It has been said that the second season of the NBA is the offseason. Already we have seen big contract options picked up by stars , Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook, whose future with their teams . A five-time all star who hasn’t been on an NBA court since March 23, 2021 was bought out and seemingly will have a new team next season. The Atlanta Hawks made a move to substantially upgrade their backcourt with the acquisition of former San Antonio Spur Dejonte Murray. However, as we stand just a few hours demo the start of NBA Free Agency bonanza 2022, a;; of that pales in comparison to news coming out of Brooklyn.
According to The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania, Nets superstar Kevin Durant , who is signed through the 2025-26 season , has requested a trade.
The news comes as a surprise, considering that the prevailing thought was that Kyrie Irving picking up his player option for next season would be sufficient enough to keep KD in Brooklyn, at least through this season. According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, the Phoenix Suns are one of KD’s “preferred” destinations. The Heat and even the Bulls have also been bantered about as potential new homes for the superstar.
